The American Capital Technology team is focused on partnering with world class entrepreneurs to build market leading companies. We typically lead early and mid stage venture investments and selectively fund late stage venture, growth equity and technology leveraged buyout opportunities as well. Our team has deep venture capital experience building industry leading companies and generating superior returns for our shareholders and the entrepreneurs with whom we partner. Our target investment range is between $5 million and $25 million and higher depending on the opportunity. We have the resources to deploy over $100 million into high growth later stage companies.

American Capital's Sponsor Finance Group supports private equity sponsors with senior debt, subordinated debt and minority equity investments to provide for a quick, certain close with one trusted partner. With a focus on partnering with private equity firms, as well as directly with companies, our 40 Sponsor Finance professionals are able to provide a one stop financing solution and manage all pre- and post-closing aspects of a transaction, including sourcing and executing deals and monitoring portfolio companies.

The Sponsor Finance Group has made more than 200 debt and minority equity investments worth over $6 billion. The Sponsor Finance Group can provide one stop senior debt (first and second lien), subordinated debt and minority equity to finance acquisitions or corporate growth initiatives.

Managing Director Profile, Technology Group

Virginia M. Turezyn joined American Capital in April 2006 as Managing Director of the Technology Group and currently serves as the group's co-director at American Capital's Palo Alto office. Ms. Turezyn brings over 22 years of experience in technology investing in areas that include software and services, consumer Internet and digital media. She served as Managing Director at Constellation Ventures, an affiliate of Bear Stearns Asset Management, was a Co-founder and Managing Director of Infinity Capital, LLC and its predecessor company Information Technology Ventures and served as Vice President in the Venture Capital Group at Morgan Stanley & Co., where she established a west coast presence and venture capital practice. She most recently served on the boards of Avolent, K12, FathomOnline, Orchestria, Siperian, United Devices and Webify. Her past successes include: Aspect Telecommunications, Aurum Software, E.piphany, Exodus Communications, HomeClub, Nellcor, Relational Technology/Ingres and Webline Communications. Ms. Turezyn is actively involved with American Capital’s technology group investments in CreditCards.com, HomeAway and Moxy Media and currently serves on Moxy Media's Board of Directors.

Matt Bigge
   
Vice President, Technology Group

Matt Bigge joined American Capital in September 2006 in the Technology Group's Palo Alto office. Mr. Bigge comes to American Capital with over 15 years of operating and venture capital experience. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Narus, Coghead, Reefpoint and Zencon.

Most recently, Mr. Bigge was the Director of Corporate Development for Nanosys Inc. Prior to Nanosys, he was a venture partner at SVIC focused on investments in leading edge technology companies such as Cloudshield and Arcsight. Mr. Bigge was also a co-founder and COO of MILCOM Technologies where he led the acquisition and commercialization of over $1.5 billion in technology ranging from wireless to software and semiconductors. He was instrumental in applying that technology to create and found over 10 product companies such as Meshnetworks (MOT) where he was a co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Bigge is also a former Army Ranger with a distinguished record as an Infantry officer in the 10th Mountain Division. He received his MBA from Harvard Business School and B.S. from Georgetown University.

David Gessel
   
Vice President, Technology Group

Mr. Gessel joined American Capital in September, 2005 as a vice president in the Operations Team. Previously, Mr. Gessel ran Black Rose Technology, an engineering consulting firm offering design and engineering services including mechanical engineering, thermal design and testing, and industrial design. Mr. Gessel co-founded several ventures including Keyspan Instruments, Inc. to design optical and experimental instruments including a temperature controlled ceilometer under contract to NASA. From 1993-1997, Mr. Gessel was a Senior Researcher and Project Director at Interval Research Corporation where he was responsible for the development of a state-of-the-art rapid prototyping facility, designed and fabricated numerous projects including pen based computers, panoramic cameras, 3D video, ultrasonic arrays, and teleconferencing, and shared responsibility for the operation of the Electric Carnival which demonstrated the wonders of multimedia and the Internet throughout the U.S. and Canada. Prior to his tenure at Interval, Mr. Gessel spent three years as a scientist in Apple Computer's Advanced Technology Group where he focused his efforts on digital camera technology, rapid prototyping, pen based computers, and display technologies.

Mr. Gessel holds a BS in Physics with a Concentration in Writing from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has been awarded seven US patents and two European patents.

Natasha V. Fox

Principal, Sponsor Finance

Natasha V. Fox is a Principal in the San Francisco office of American Capital. She is responsible for originating, executing and managing investments in middle-market companies across a variety of industry sectors, including consumer products and specialty retailing, software and technology, business services and general manufacturing. While at American Capital, Ms. Fox has been involved in over twenty financing and leveraged buyout transactions, investing in excess of $1 billion in debt and equity capital. She has served on the board of directors of American Capital portfolio companies Automatic Bar Controls, Aeriform, Cycle Gear and The L.A. Studios. She is also a Director of the San Francisco chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth.

Ms. Fox joined American Capital in 1999 as an Associate and was subsequently promoted to Vice President and to Principal. Ms. Fox began her career in investment banking in New York. She spent two years as a Financial Analyst with the Technology Group at Merrill Lynch & Co., where she participated in a total of $2.8 billion in equity offerings and $1.7 billion in M&A transactions, advising clients in the software, IT services and telecommunications industries. Ms. Fox received her Bachelor of Science in Finance with High Honors from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley.
